The Head of Sports Data Insights will lead the data department insights department on the Sporting side of the organisation, supporting the data strategy across the First Team, Academy, and Women’s teams, to improve performance and create efficiencies.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Lead the club’s football data analytics department, working with the relevant heads of department across the First Team, Academy, and Women’s Team to understand both short-term and long-term needs to deliver a long-term strategy and outlook in this field.
Work alongside the Business Data Analyst to ensure a consistent ‘one-club’ approach to data at Nottingham Forest.
Implement software and reporting methods suitable to the needs of relevant sporting performance departments.
Develop and implement data visualisation techniques to assist in decision making processes and to facilitate insightful discussions and outcomes between departments.
Identify software required to deliver the needs of the department.
Understand the various data being collated across the sporting domains and streamline the process of collecting and presenting this.
Suggest and find ways to enhance performance through the use of data, ensuring presentation of data is visually aesthetic and purposeful.
Research and implement latest trends to ensure department is current and up-to-date and suggest ideas to assist with continuous improvement across departments where relevant.
Line management of the Sporting Data roles, including PHD students, including recommendations on the department functionality, including staffing.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
Experience in this field of work at a professional football club, working with performance data.
Detailed knowledge of football from a tactical perspective.
Experience and ability to design and implement insightful metrics, dashboards, & communication tools using visual analytics software
Ability to apply data visualisation techniques to assist in decision making process and facilitate insightful discussions amongst key football performance staff.
Knowledge of relational database systems and concepts such as modelling and ETL
