JOB TITLE: Volunteer Local Academy Scout – Norfolk & Surrounding Areas
DEPARTMENT: Recruitment
REPORTS TO: Head of Academy Recruitment & Operations
LOCATION: Predominantly home based with local travel
DAYS: Evenings/Weekends


Job Purpose
At King's Lynn, we are committed to developing young talent and creating a pathway to
success. The Local Academy Scout will focus on players within the U8s-U23s age range,
covering games, fixtures and tournaments at grassroots and academy levels. You will be
responsible for identifying and recruiting players who meet the required standard to
progress within the King's Lynn Academy Programme. You will be expected to carry out your duties in line with the scout's code of conduct and the rules and regulations of the Football Association.


Key Responsibilities
• Identify players for King's Lynn Academy based on recruitment priorities for
Academy, Shadow Academy, and Development.
• Maintain weekly communication with the Head of Recruitment & Operations.
• Communicate effectively with the Head of Recruitment & Operations about all
prospective trialists and key players for U8s-U23s.
• Proactively seek out fixtures to attend.
• Attend games in the local area based on recruitment priorities.
• Ensure all reports are uploaded to relevant platforms.
• Build contacts within your area, including grassroots clubs, schools and private
academies.
• Maintain a database of player details at all required levels.
• Collaborate with other Local Academy Scouts to share and build information.
• Ensure that all qualifications are re-validated as required.
• Attend all internal and external personal development training required by King's
Lynn and the Football Association.

This role carries a specific safeguarding responsibility. The post-holder is required to apply all
relevant policies and uphold the Club’s commitment to safeguarding vulnerable people.

Person Specification
Job Title: Volunteer Local Academy Scout – Norfolk & Surrounding Areas


Knowledge
• Essential: Willing to understand the Academies EPPP system.
• Essential: Willing to gain knowledge of teams and players within the area, private
academies, and school tournaments.
• Essential: Willing to understand the standard of players attending the Academy.
Technical/Work-Based Skills
• Essential: Good communication skills - written and verbal.
• Essential: Good level of IT and presentation skills in building and delivering relevant
information.


General Skills and Attributes
• Essential: Understanding of how to work safely with children and/or vulnerable
adults and uphold generally accepted practices.
• Desirable: Experience working with children and/or vulnerable adults.


Qualifications
• Essential: Have/Willing to undertake FA Talent ID Level 1.
• Essential: Subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level and cleared by King's Lynn.
• Essential: Must hold or obtain the relevant safeguarding training at the earliest
opportunity (e.g., FA Safeguarding Children Workshop).
